Validation

Writing truly its own reward, getting to be in the flow of creativity. The joy is in letting the work unfold as it will, with a hand on the rudder, following the current, trusting the wind. Have I been saturated with the Pacific Ocean life? Not nearly enough!
There is a joy as well in knowing that whatever art you're giving to the world is appreciated and meaningful to other people.
I've been nominated by the Pacific Northwest Writers Association for the Nancy Pearl Award for Best Published Fiction of 2024. The other two finalists are fine writers, Alle C. Hall and Irma Fritz, and I'm honored to be in their company.

Beyond the story

Diving into the past has been so interesting. I feel as if I've lived many lifetimes in rural settings before the 1900's. I've done my best to live with a nod in that direction-when I was young, trying to 'live off the land,' as many of us hippies did. Also, living in my 1830's cabin in Tennessee for 30 years, I spent a good deal of the time by myself, comfortable with solitude and self-reliance. So, it's been easy to immerse myself in Omie's world. I hope you will feel at home there too.
